London Anti-Trump United Front! (4.6.2019)

Members of the BMA (UK) attended the anti-Trump demonstration in London yesterday. Thousands upon thousands gathered in and around Trafalgar Square, with the intention of the crowd following US President Donald Trump as his Tory-led State Visit unfolded. It is ironic to note that this lavish ceremony and ritual (which is funded by the British taxpayer) is only usually reserved for esteemed Heads of State – and yet virtually every opinion poll in the UK tells a very similar and consistent story – Donald Trump is immensely unpopular amongst women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds, with many men (other than those involved in supporting the political right) expressing similar convictions. Trump is extremely popular with the political rightwing for the natural racism he expresses, his demeaning attitude towards women and his hatred for those who suffer (and have to live with) disabilities. The United States of America has elected an honest fascist, but it must be borne in-mind that President Barak Obama – the first African-American to hold that high office – supported the re-nazification of Eastern Europe, and the neo-Maidan Movement which illegally took power in Western Ukraine in 2014. Indeed – America ‘The Land of the Free’ - has a long history of courting fascism, with 1941-1945 being something of a blip, or the exception that proves the rule. Freedom in the US is defined as nothing other than unbridled predatory capitalism. Recognising this reality, the Communist Party of Britain (CPB) called for a general turn-out of all Communists at this demonstration in London (and across the UK). Yesterday witnessed something of an anti-fascist ‘United Front’ drawing together the political left with the more progressive elements of the bourgeoisie. An interesting anomaly saw representatives supporting the European Union (EU) and Britain ‘remaining’ in it – join the predominantly anti-EU protest. This presence is odd as the EU was created by the US in Europe after 1945 with the function of eradicating all ‘Socialism’, and turn Europe into a rightwing, pro-American and anti-Soviet bastion! Therefore, from a logical position, support for the EU is exactly the same as support for Donald Trump and vice versa! This appears to be a well-funded attempt at infiltrating the well-known anti-EU sentiment in the UK, with the intention of undermining the democratic process in Britain. Remember that due to EU Membership Regulations, the Tories (and LibDems) have been quite happy to privatise the NHS and dismantle the Welfare State! To save British democracy and build British Socialism – the UK must leave the EU. The EU must be abolished Europe-wide and recognised as the expression of US neo-imperialism it actually is!
