JRF: Picture Britain - Our People Our Poverty (Borough Market) 22.02.20
By Adrian & Gee Wyles
Today, a delegation of the BMA (UK) visited a photographic exhibition in London featuring the extraordinary lives of people trapped in a cycle of poverty, disadvantage and injustice. The Joseph Roundtree Foundation has carried-out good work amongst the UK’s poor, disadvantaged and disabled populations. The Picture Britain Exhibition runs from the 19th of February – the 7th of March (2020) - in an open space within Borough Market (London) - the nearest Tube Stop is London Bridge. All the diverse people included form a diverse cross-section of men, women and children from all different backgrounds, ethnicities and origination. Life is hard – yes – but their examples burn with a certain spirit of resilience, which although not justifying the poverty in anyway, nevertheless is a salute the human spirit! Read their stories, contemplate the important lessons contained therein, and help us work towards relieving poverty and forging a new society!
